The roots of the research group "Force Measurement and Weighing Technology" at the Institute of Process Measurement and Sensor Technology lie in studies on stress analysis and the development of interference-optical scales under the former head of the institute, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr. h.c. mult. Prof. h.c. Gerd Jäger. The research areas were later expanded to include investigations of dynamic properties of load cells and high-resolution mass comparators. In connection with comparator weighing technology and the calibration of test weights, the necessary auxiliary equipment such as weighing robots and susceptometers are developed in close cooperation with our industrial partners. Another research focus is the adaptation of EMF balances for the calibration of small forces and the further development of suitable systems for this purpose.
