| April 07, 2025 | "Challenges and solutions for on-site testing of cable installations in offshore wind farms" |
Dr.-Ing Uwe Kaltenborn, Director Business Development HIGVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH Submarine cable connections within offshore wind farms pose a particular challenge, as they are nominally medium-voltage cables with a high-voltage cable design. As a result, on-site testing has been regulated in a separate standard, IEC 63026. However, the challenge for the test system is not only to comply with the standard, but also to be suitable for use off-shore, transportable and flexible in all weather conditions in accordance with the process. This multidimensional optimization was actively approached in two steps by first checking the fulfillment of the specific customer requirements during operation and then individually adapting the system to the respective customer and their processes in a second step. | |
