Climate (change) communication

FG EMPK publishes conference proceedings on climate (change) communication

What does the population know, think and feel about or about climate change and which subgroups can be distinguished in this respect? What explains the acceptance or rejection of climate protection measures? Can constructive messages be used to encourage climate-friendly behavior?

These and other questions are explored in the newly published book "Klima(wandel)kommunikation - Im Spannungsfeld zwischen Wissenschaft, Medien und öffentlicher Meinung". The book was edited by Jens Wolling, Marius Becker and Christina Schumann. It is published as a conference volume for the conference "Klima(wandel)kommunikation," which the editorial team hosted in February 2022 as the 6th conference of the Science Communication Section of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Studies.

A total of 12 contributions shed light on diverse perspectives on the topic and show that not only climate change research, but also the analysis of communication about this field is complex and that climate communication encompasses both science communication and political communication.

The full conference proceedings are published in the book series NEU - Sustainability, Energy and Environmental Communication - and are freely available here.
