Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gerald Schuller | Head of Group
Research interests are audio coding, low-delay audio source separation, and music information retrieval (MIR) for signal analysis and modeling, for example for the recognition of musical instruments and the modeling and synthesis of their sounds. The approaches are machine learning for audio and music processing and probabilistic optimization algorithms.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Raake | Head of Group
The research area in the group covers the entire chain from production, processing, transmission and presentation to perception and personal experience. Speech, audio and video systems and services are investigated. Special attention is paid to the convergence of media in IP-based networks with respect to higher-quality multimedia services.

Dr.-Ing. Stephan Werner| Head of Group, temporary
The focus is on research and development of technologies in the area of spatial audio systems and in the area of Music Information Retrieval (MIR) using machine learning methods. The two orientations of the field are systems and methods in the area of Auditory Augmented Reality (Audio-AR) and in the area of AI-based metadata enrichment of audio databases. The approach here is an interaction between technology and perceptual impact.

Jun.-Prof. Dr. Matthias Hirth| Head of Group
The research area of the group includes the acquisition and modeling of subjective user perception (QoE) of media data and technical systems, as well as the user-centered optimization of technical systems. Crowdsourcing as a further central research focus is primarily applied in the implementation of large-scale user studies.
