Winners of the 2026 ZMN Doctoral Prize Announced

The winner of the 2026 ZMN Doctoral Prize was announced during this year’s ZMN Summer Festival. With this award, the Center for Micro- and Nanotechnologies (ZMN) at the Technical University of Ilmenau and the Ilmenau Association for Micro- and Nanotechnologies e.V. honor outstanding doctoral dissertations that have made significant use of the ZMN’s research infrastructure and thereby enabled scientific excellence.

This year’s ZMN Doctoral Prize, worth 1,000 euros, goes to Dr. Sebastian Bohm for his dissertation

“Numerical methods for the simulation of microfluidic systems driven by electrowetting on dielectrics (EWOD) demonstrated by the example of a chip-integrated micropump.”

The thesis impressed the jury with its scientific quality, its degree of innovation, and its intensive use of the ZMN’s research infrastructure.

The official award ceremony will take place during the graduation ceremony at the Technical University of Ilmenau in October 2026. There, Dr. Sebastian Bohm will formally accept the ZMN Doctoral Prize.
