We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Nobertus Ribut Santoso from our Indonesian partner university, Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, here in Ilmenau!
Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta and TU Ilmenau have been linked by an intensive and vibrant partnership for 26 years. The absolute highlight of this collaboration is our joint double degree program between the two bachelor’s degree programs in communication studies.
Planning for the future: The main purpose of Dr. Nobertus’s visit was to explore new opportunities to expand this successful collaboration to the master’s level and further deepen it in the future.
The schedule over the past few days was packed with academic and cultural activities:
🔹 Teaching & Research: Dr. Nobertus attended various courses in our Master’s program in Media and Communication Science (MCS), met with our four students who will be heading off in August to pursue the double degree, and delivered a highly acclaimed research presentation on the topic “Communication Processes in Migrant Families and Their Contribution to Promoting Resilience Among Former Female Migrants.”
🔹Campus & City: A campus and city tour provided plenty of insights into life at TU Ilmenau—capped off by a visit to Ilmenau’s Science Night.
🔹 Cultural Immersion: Of course, Thuringia’s culture couldn’t be left out! The itinerary included excursions to Erfurt Cathedral, a stroll through Erfurt’s beautiful Old Town—including the Krämerbrücke—and a visit to the historically significant Wartburg Castle. 🏰
We were delighted by the inspiring exchange and are eagerly looking forward to our next joint projects with our partners from Yogyakarta!
