Field trip with students to Supracon AG

To complement the theoretical knowledge taught in the course “Superconductivity and Circuits in Quantum Information Processing” with practical aspects, students undertook a study visit to Supracon AG in Jena/Maua.

At this company, systemic solutions based on superconducting quantum technologies are developed that are market-ready and push the boundaries of what is physically possible. From components such as electronics and quantum sensors, complex systems for various applications are created. The company is well-positioned for the second generation of quantum technologies and is involved in researching innovative enabling technologies for quantum computers.

During the visit, students gained insight into the company’s extensive and interdisciplinary expertise in cryogenics, thin-film technologies, mechatronics and sensorics, electronics development, and system integration. This allowed them to see how the theoretical knowledge acquired in the course can be transformed into innovative solutions for applications supporting, among others, the life sciences.
