On January 1, 2025, the research project MAQSIMAL was launched. The project aims to develop a solution for a multimodal, airborne, quantum sensor–based measurement instrument for the sustainable exploration of natural resources.
In collaboration with Supracon AG Jena (coordinator), GRM-services Oy (Finland), LKAB (Sweden), and the Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia (Portugal), the project seeks to develop an innovative superconducting quantum interferometer (SQUID) for magnetic measurements, including integrated readout electronics. Furthermore, the project aims to establish methods for reducing motion noise in airborne vector magnetometry and full-tensor gradiometry data, as well as for the inversion of electrical conductivity and magnetic rock properties, such as magnetization and magnetic susceptibility.
The project has a duration of three years.
