The German Research Foundation (DFG) has awarded Technische Universität Ilmenau funding for a further three years in the Open Access Publication Funding programm. This will provide
financial support for authors at the university to publish their research results in a way that provides free accessibility and reusability worldwide. The University Library (UB) has submitted the renewal application for TU Ilmenau and is responsible for managing the funds.
Open Access funding at TU Ilmenau is based on two central funding lines: The TU Ilmenau Publication Fund was set up back in 2015, and since 2019 there have also been a growing
number of open access agreements with various publishers. The funds that have now been successfully raised can be used in both lines.
Financial support via the Publication Fund is subject to application: TU Ilmenau researchers can receive a maximum support amount of currently EUR 1,800 per publication. Information on the exact conditions and procedures for funding as well as the corresponding application form can be found on the University Library website.
Open Access agreements with a number of publishers can also be financed proportionally from the German Research Foundation (DFG) funds raised. Details of the existing agreements and the respective modalities can also be found on the University Library website.
The following packages have been added to the University Library’s e-book collection:

A Publish&Read Agreement has been passed with the American Physical Society (APS) from 2025. In addition to access to a significantly expanded range of APS journals, it now also offers open access publication rights for TU researchers. Further information will be added to the University Library website at the beginning of 2025.
The Publish&Read Agreement with the publisher Optica expires at the end of 2024. From 2025, read-only access to the journal Applied Optics will pass.
The Publish&Read Agreement for the approx. 30 Nature-branded journals from the Springer Nature publishing house has been extended for the period 2025 to 2028.
