Registration at the University Library

To borrow media and to use special services you have to register at the University Library. You can register during opening hours in the main library .

Important: If your user account is not activated within 4 weeks, your data will be deleted.

Borrowing media is only possible on the following day.

The issuing of your user card and the final activation of your borrowing account will only take place after your personal appearance at the University Library.

Documents required for registration

  • As a member (student or employee) of the University of Ilmenau a current thoska and a valid identity card or a valid passport with an official registration certificate (not older than 6 months).
  • As an external user a valid identity card or a valid passport with an official registration certificate (not older than 6 months).

Underage library users (14 years and older)

For those between the ages of 14 and 18, a consent form and a copy of the parent/guardian's ID must be provided.

PhD student

Admission to the lecturer loan

As a doctoral student you can be admitted to the lecturer loan (see INFO 8) upon application.

For an admission to the lecturer loan please hand in the following documents:

  • Your own application,
  • Endorsement of the head of department (with head sheet or stamp of the faculty and mention of a time limit) - Word template for endorsement,
  • original or copy of matriculation certificate.
 

If you have not been an academic staff member so far, please also bring all the books you have borrowed. These must first be returned before the library account can be changed over. However, you can then immediately borrow the books again and take them with you.
