Isoperceptive areas in room acoustics

In this project, the spatial auditory perception of changing room acoustics is investigated in the context of Auditory Augmented Reality (AAR). A position-dynamic binaural synthesis is used to place virtual sound sources in real space. For this purpose, the synthesis must be adaptable to the real listening room. The central research question is how accurately real-world acoustics must be replicated to avoid disruptive effects on the unified spatial auditory perception of the real room and virtual objects.
