EMPK TU Ilmenau leads EU-ASEAN university cooperation for sustainability in research and teaching

The research group EMPK has been selected to lead the Green Transformation Cluster under the Sustainable Connectivity Package – Higher Education (SCOPE-HE) Program, a flagship initiative of EU-ASEAN cooperation.

Following a highly competitive selection process, the EMPK emerged as the leader of the Green Transition cluster. This consortium comprises six partner institutions: Université de Technologie de Compiègne (France), Fachhochschule Erfurt (Germany), Mindanao State University (Philippines), Universitas Pancasila (Indonesia), and President University (Indonesia). The cluster aims to promote student and academic mobility and to strengthen university networks focused on green transformation for sustainability. It also dedicated to delivering excellence in research-based teaching, with a focus on renewable energy (SDG 7), biodiversity and land use (SDG 15), and their contributions to broader climate action goals.

The SCOPE-HE Program is implemented by Nuffic (the Dutch organisation for the internationalisation of education) in partnership with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and will start in July 2025. The EMPK is proud to receive the honor to lead the cluster and the project will be managed by Dr. Mira Rochyadi-Reetz. We are convinced that this new consortium will contribute to strengthen partnerships between higher education institutions across the EU and ASEAN.
