ICONTEC GmbH was founded in 2021 in association with TU Ilmenau. Founder Nils Büchner brings decades of experience in the study, teaching, and practical application of business informatics - particularly in the SAP environment, which he has helped build and shape at the university since the 1990s.
Following his first successful startup in the SAP consulting sector, Büchner decided to start anew with a clear focus: not only to provide strategic consulting to companies but to support them holistically through their digital transformation - from the initial idea through implementation to ongoing operations.
Today, ICONTEC’s portfolio encompasses a broad spectrum of services: from SAP consulting and implementation to business intelligence, development & integration, robotic process automation, and managed IT services. In this way, the company supports complete digitalization projects across the entire value chain.
ICONTEC is driven by a close-knit team: In addition to Nils Büchner, the co-founders and shareholders include TU Ilmenau alumni Axel Riedel, René Eckert, and Markus Ehrhardt. A large portion of the staff also studied at TU Ilmenau. Many join the company as student workers while still in school and continue to develop their careers within the company - a living example of the transfer of knowledge between the university and the professional world.
This close connection to TU Ilmenau remains a defining feature to this day - whether through joint teaching formats, volunteer support for the university’s SAP systems, or the involvement of students in real-world projects. At the same time, the team brings experience from national and international SAP and digitalization projects, thus combining local commitment with global expertise.
In short: ICONTEC stands for holistic digitalization, in-depth SAP expertise, and a strong alumni network - rooted in Ilmenau and making an impact far beyond.
