Open Administration UG (limited liability)

Open source financial digitization for voluntary organizations

At the end of 2021, students Lukas Staab and Michelle Storandt succeeded in founding a company based on voluntary work. Since then, Open Administration has been working on digitizing processes and structures in voluntary organizations. In order to provide access to as many organizations as possible, the entire software is open source. This means that customers can not only customize the application themselves, but also host it completely independently.

The founders are long-standing members of the Student Council (StuRa) at TU Ilmenau. There, the two were primarily active in the IT and Finance Department. This is where they developed the first financial software for the StuRa. When there was no successor, the duo decided without further ado to manage the software themselves with their own company.

Since the company was founded, the focus has been particularly on student representatives, whose membership and financial administration is to be optimized using the self-developed software. The software is tailored precisely to the needs and legal basis of student bodies. The open source approach means that organizations with sufficient resources and knowledge can use the application free of charge and develop it further themselves.

If sufficient resources are not available, the Open Administration UG takes over the setup, support and consulting for the program. The software itself can be adapted to specific requirements at any time.

The company is already in contact with half of all student bodies in Thuringia. The long-term goal is to become the standard here in the field of financial digitization.

More information about the development and a demo version of the software can be found on the website .
